The newest approaches. The latest treatments.
The most up-to-date care available.

Clinical trials, also called clinical research, are studies designed to find answers to specific health questions. They often look at new drugs or new combination of drugs, new surgical procedures or devices, or new ways to use existing treatments.

OhioHealth primarily participates in Phase III and Phase IV clinical trials, which are not experiments, but confirmations – sound, proven trials that involve much less risk than earlier phases.

Our comprehensive cancer research program offers the newest treatments and therapies, including management of symptoms, quality of life and cancer prevention, putting us at the forefront of cancer care. In addition, each patient is assigned a clinical trials nurse to guide them through the treatment.

We provide access to a broad range of cancer clinical trials through our participation in regional and national research networks, including the Columbus Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP). CCOP is the local cancer research consortium overseeing industry and National Cancer Institute-sponsored clinical trials. CCOP strives to bring state-of-the-art cancer treatment and prevention programs to local doctors and the communities they serve.

Still, choosing to participate in a clinical trial can be a complex decision. To learn more about cancer clinical trials currently available at OhioHealth, talk to your doctor, one of our Cancer Research Nurses, or call CancerCall at (614) 566-4321 or 1-800-752-9119.
