Dr. Arthur G.H. and Hetty L. Bing – Generosity Inspired by Gratitude and Commitment

Drs. Arthur G.H. and Hetty L. Bing have contributed their time, talent and treasures to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital since moving from Indonesia in 1969.  Beginning his journey with Riverside Methodist Hospital, Dr. Arthur Bing completed his residencies in general and plastic surgery and then joined the Medical Staff as a plastic surgeon in private practice.

The Bings’ connection to Riverside Methodist is deeper than their history as caregivers.  During Dr. Bing’s second year of general surgery residency, Hetty received the devastating diagnosis of cancer.  She underwent successful treatment at Riverside Methodist and is a healthy survivor to this day.  As a grateful patient family, the Bings’ commitment to Riverside Methodist grew stronger over time.  Inspired by a desire to give back, they made it their personal mission to encourage hope, health and healing.

In 2011 the Bings demonstrated their deep commitment to Riverside Methodist’s future by pledging the largest philanthropic gift from a physician couple to OhioHealth during their lifetime.  Their gift of $2 million toward the OhioHealth Bing Cancer Center at Riverside Methodist, coupled with their years of serving patients and families, will benefit our community for years to come.
